What is the real difference between drugstore products and salon products?
There is a great deal of difference, here are the main points:
1) The concentration level is greater with salon products. There is less water and alcohol in salon products which make them more concentrated. The drugstore products are always diluted with more water and alcohol because that is what makes them less expensive. However, you will find that when you use the concentrated salon product correctly (for example you only need a dime size amount of some products versus a palm full of drugstore products) you will need less of it making the product last you longer.
2) The quality of the ingredients and the intensity and technology in a product is greater with salon professional products. Companies for salon professionals pride themselves on putting more money into research and development to provide the customers with the best ingredients for their products. The more expensive salon product generally has the most superior ingredients which causes the price point to be higher than that of the drugstore variety.
3) As a licensed salon professional your stylist is guiding you towards the product that is correct for your specific hair type. Therefore, this may lead you to buy fewer products, or in the least only the products that will actually benefit your hair. The knowledge of the person selling the product is a valuable benefit to you.
