I have been dying my hair dark at home for a while and I decided to go lighter. When I put a blonde color on my hair it came out a weird orange shade

First of all, I never encourage home hair color. Even if you have been doing it successfully for a while, a professional colorist can give you more options and keep your hair in the best condition possible. Your situation is one of the worst case scenarios of home color gone wrong. Here are the points about your situation:
1) Haircolor does not lift haircolor. PERIOD. Once you have decided to put permanent dark color on your hair the only way to remove it is by using a color remover or lightener.
2) The orange color is the underlying pigment that you pulled to the surface using the wrong chemical.

This is actually a fairly common situation. I recommend that you immediately seek help of a trained cosmetologist like those at Visions. They will remove the unwanted color to the correct level and then deposit back onto the hair the tone that you desire. It is a color correction so give yourself some time at the salon for your appointment and we promise to pamper you to the fullest.
